President's Message

Welcome - We are currently entering our 30th season, and there are several changes to date.

I have been elected as the new President of the league, and I have replaced Vince D’Angiolo, past President of 7 years. I look forward to working with returning V.P. Peter Tod, and our newest members of the board: Treasurer - Darin Brecht (Brian Charles - 4 years), and Secretary - Steve Corrigal  (Charlie Naccarato - 7 years). I’d like to thank the 3 outgoing executive members for their years of service, hard work, and dedication to the league.

As you know; as of last year, Brian Yakimoski and Brian Powell have taken over “Prime Wild”. Throughout this transition, they have decided to make a name change; they are now called the “BADGERS”.

The Red Dogs have also made some changes, Captain Charlie Naccarato has stepped down, and Dave Hislop has joined Alan Kachkowski as Co-Captain.

With the start of the 2014-15 season, we have said farewell to 9 players: Neil Arbuckle, Rod Brecht, Brian Dupuis, Randy Lindsay, Brent McSorley, Charlie Naccarato, Andy Primmet, Kevin Raddysh, and Terry Samborski. Unfortunately, due to injury, the following players are also no longer returning:  Ralph Gelardi, Ed Richtscheid, Daryl Rondeau, and Roger Trudel.

Please welcome:  Returning Alumni Ed Coleman and Brent Belot, Guy Aquin, Shawn McLay, Doug Repay, Craig Wile, Bryan Fotheringham, Mike Franklin, Dave Lim, Ken Guenther, Neil Gauthier, Adrian Heidinger and Sean Frain to the league.

Last year, the Terry Pottinger Award was presented to Steve Peers. Steve is well deserving of this award as he has played an active role in the SOHL Tournament for the past 4-5 years, and alongside Rick Stephanchew, Steve Peers leads “The Outlaws”... Congratulations Steve.

Beginning last year, the President’s Award was initiated, and awarded to an active or retired member(s) of the league. This award is granted to an individual(s) who has shown enthusiasm throughout the season, and has taken on tasks voluntarily.  Last year’s winners are: Ray Smylski, Charlie Naccarato, and Joel Desaulniers… Congratulations gentlemen.

In closing, I would just like to say that I am looking forward to this year as President and wish everyone a safe and fun season.

Respectfully,
Gil Jeanson
